Thanks to its unique colour, turquoise was amongst the first gemstones to be mined. It is a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminium and is thought to form during the weathering and oxidation of pre-existing minerals. This specimen comes from the famous Sleeping Beauty Mine in Arizona. Size: 2cm
