Agate 121 » Add to Gallery When there is insufficient material to fill the pocekets in rocks in which agates form the central void may be filled either by quartz or by horizontal bands crystallised from a second infusion of silica - or, as here, a combination of both. Size: 5cm. Quite what formed the apparently bottom-lit 'balls' in this image is a mystery to me, but they certainly add a feeling of playful mystery to the 'beach'...
