Agate 123 » Add to Gallery When there is insufficient material to fill the pockets in rocks in which agates form the central void is typically filled either by quartz or by horizontal bands that crystallise from a second infusion of silica - or, as here, by both. Size: 7cm. The foreground of this images is created by the narrow perimeter of concentric banding that frames the level-bedded 'sea and sky'.
